Curriculum

We have designed and planned our curriculum to offer experiences which contribute to every child receiving a broad and balanced range of learning opportunities. The experiences we offer support and champion our culture and ensures that our children benefit from a variety of academic, spiritual, moral, social and cultural activities. These activities enrich their lives and those of our whole school community and make the pupils reflect on and use our school values. We are proud that our curriculum gives our children the skills, confidence and self-belief to lead a happy and fulfilled life by encouraging them to aim high and work towards their goals and dreams in life.

We love our Music lessons - every child plays an instrument, every week at Brough School.
Outdoor learning is a key part of our curriculum.

As a small school, the head teacher and teaching staff are able to sit down and plan a curriculum which not only works well in each class but links across the school. Common teaching practices coupled with shared expertise ensure broad and balanced learning opportunities. This is all done in consultation with parents, governors and the pupils. The content of our school curriculum in each academic year for every subject can be found in the curriculum maps below. Details of how we deliver this across the school in every subject can be found in the subject headings. What we are teaching this term is in the subject booklets at the bottom of the page.
