Any funds raised at these events are utilised in school to enhance educational opportunities for the pupils.

BEST Meeting

Thursday 3rd September

Present: Mr Cooper, Karen, Conrad, Sharon, Charlotte, Melissa, Helen, Kelly, Emma, Sasha, Jair, Kath and Zed.

Thank you to Karen, Tina and Sharon who over the summer break stained the outside adventure area. Cy along with other members of Warcop Army Camp also cleared the early learning area in the summer break ready for the new area to be built. Photos of their hard work was posted on the school facebook page.

Mr Cooper thanked everyone for all the fundraising the team have done over the past 3 years. We have around £2500 in the bank which is a good healthy sum to take us in to what could be a difficult year to fundraise. Unfortunately the Halloween disco will not be able to go ahead this year due to the pandemic. The school is unable to hold events in the school at the moment and bubbles are not allowed to be mixed.

This term he would love for us to volunteer our time to help clear and develop the allotment area at the back of the school. A potential plan was handed out and we were shown the area. If we can ask if all of the families in the school can pledge sometime this term that would be amazing. Karen will set up a “whatsApp group to help organise and plan days and time that people will go. However if you and your family have time on your hands then you can directly ask Mr Cooper what is needed and then just turn up when your free. The whole area needs cutting back first so we can see what we are working with. Helen has kindly volunteered to be the first to tackle the weeds with her strimmer and will be going tomorrow for an hour before school collection. If you have a strimmer and are free this weekend please free to go down so we can make a good start on the project.

Once the area is clear the plan is for the kids to grow vegetables, have a reflection area and possibly some chicken’sJ.

Fundraising

Ideas were discussed of what we could do in the current climate. We are mindful that times are hard at the moment so will be careful of what we choose to do.

· Sharon agreed to design a Christmas quiz to sell. We will give each family 5 quizzes to sell after the half team break. Money can be brought back and given to the class teacher to pass back to Sharon.

· Conrad will ask the organiser of the remote cinema if we could possibly hold a cinema event in half team for the children. The idea would be to split the takings with the remote cinema group.

· Karen will look at ideas that children can make at home and enter in to a competition within their year groups.

· The possibility of a virtual quiz was also discussed and will again look into how we could run this.

AGM

Date to be arranged in October

Karen and Hayley would like to step down as chair and secretary of the support group. If you are interested in taking on these roles then please speak to Karen who will let you know what the position involves etc. Mr Cooper thanked both Karen and Hayley for their hard work over the past 3 years. Karen Morrison is happy to stay on in her role as treasurer for another year.

Next meeting to be arranged after October half term and we will try and pick a different time and day to hopefully let others attend the meeting.
